14 Months

Hello, sweetie!

Now you’re fourteen months old and definitely a wild little toddler! You are great at walking now and will walk really fast (almost running, but not quite), go up and down inclines and stairs, turn every which way, and find so much joy in just doing that! The only thing you’re still kind of funny about is walking on grass, dirt, and sand! I guess you just like level surfaces like carpet and concrete for now.

You are quite the growing little piggy boy and will eat almost everything! You absolutely love lasagna, meatloaf, any fruit (especially bananas and dried cranberries), and every cookie that you’ve tried. You still don’t like to eat mashed potatoes for some reason and, like me, don’t care much for avocados. You have 16 teeth now and are excellent at chewing up big chunks. You are practicing using a fork and are pretty good at it; but things get a little messy when you try to use a spoon. I still spoon-feed you things like yogurt and applesauce but you like to hold my hand and try to do it yourself. If Daddy or I tries to feed you with a fork, a lot of times you won’t bother unless you get to do it yourself!

Your vocabulary hasn’t expanded too much lately, but you are starting to say some words! You don’t do it too regularly, but you do say “Day-day”/”Daayy” (for Daddy), “Mama” (but not as much as Daddy!), “da”/”dat” (as in that when you point to things), and have told me “no” and “stop” a couple of times! (Ahem, that is not okay, mister!) We read and talk to you a lot and do animal noises with your toys and books all the time. When I do woof, woofs when we see a dog, you respond with “woo woo!” I love your sweet little voice and am looking forward to hearing what else you have to say in the months to come!

You’ve gotten more friendly with other people lately. The last few months have been a little stressful when we leave you at the church nursery. You would scream so much when I was gone! Even when I work in the nursery, you’d get really jealous if I spend time with another baby. Lately I hear you’ve been better when I’m off at the service and it seems you’re starting to understand that Daddy and I haven’t abandoned you in the nursery! You’ve also been left to spend time with your friends Josh and Aime while I take care of an appointment. You just walk right in and don’t pay any attention to me as I leave, then have a wonderful time and don’t seem to mind at all that I’m not there! You’re also friendly with other little kids. It’s so much fun when we go out to eat at the Global Kitchen, where you can run around with other children in the play area. It’s a blast when there are a fair amount of people there because you love to watch them, follow them, get attention from the little girls, and don’t even mind being a bit trampled or tackled every now and then!

Spring is here and the weather is getting much prettier than it has been the last few months. Now we try to go for a little outing with you every day. You like to go for short walks and especially love to drive around in your little red car! I’m hoping soon we will go on some small hikes with you and maybe have some back yard camp-outs! You did some of that last summer when you were much smaller, but I’m sure it will be a whole new experience now!

Daddy and I found out this month that, when the new baby arrives in July, you are going to have a little brother! We are having so much fun spending time with one little boy, I’m very excited to have the joy of two sweet little boys! I know you two will have so much fun together, doing what brothers do. You’ll get to teach him all sorts fun things! You are such a sweet little guy; I know you will make a fantastic big brother!

Love you always,
Mommy
