Rokkasho Visitors Center

  • Go out the POL gate, turn left at the first traffic light
  • Turn left at the second traffic light (2.2 km)
  • Proceed 17.8 km to the T-intersection of Route 338. Turn left.
  • Go 11.1 km on Route 338. Turn left onto Route 338 bypass.
  • Continue on Route 338 bypass at the right hand turn at 3.6 km
  • Proceed through the traffic light at 4.4 km.
  • You will pass the Visitors Center on the left at another 3 km. Turn left at the intersection at 0.3 km km past the Visitors Center.
  • Proceed up the road to the Visitors Center's entrance in 0.4 km on the left.

The first floor and basement of the Rokkasho Visitors Center recreate all the facilities at Rokkasho with large-scale mockups. The facilities represented here include the reprocessing plant as well as the uranium enrichment plant and the low-level radioactive waste disposal center. The entire second floor is called the Cycle Station, where an introduction is made of how nuclear power plants work and how the nuclear fuel cycle operates.
