Shirahama Sandy Beach

  • Take Momoishi toll road from Misawa to Hachinohe. (The trip requires 2 toll passes each way)
  • Turn right onto route 45.
  • At the traffic light at the bottom of the hill, at the overpass, turn left.
  • Staying in the left lane, follow the road to where the left lane goes straight and the other 2 lanes turn right.   (There will be a sign for the ferry port at this point.)
  • Go straight, through the tunnel, over the overpass, and turn right at the traffic light.
  • Follow this road over the big bridge to the t-intersection.
  • Turn right.
  • Follow this road to the t-intersection, turn left.
  • Follow this road to the fourth traffic light (there will be a sign for the turn overhead.)
  • Turn right.
  • Follow this road for a distance till you come to a 10% downhill that turns to the right at the bottom.
  • At the bottom of the hill there will be a stop sign (look up).
  • Turn left at the stop sign.
  • Cross the railroad tracks, turn right at the next street.
  • The beach is on your left.
  • To exit this area you may continue straight down the road to the t-intersection, and make the hard right turn.
  • Follow this road across the railroad tracks to the traffic light.
  • Turn right to head back the way you came or turn left to go to the Tanesashi Grassy Beach.

  • Alternate Directions from a Friend:

    From POL road take a left at Universe.
    Take a right at the 338.
    Take a left at the 19 which also has a small round bldg
    Take a left at the Industrial Port/Ferry Wharf
    Take a right at an orange arrow
    After a small boat port, take a left at the grayish brown bldgs
    Take a right at the blue arrow
    You’ll pass the Ferry Terminal on the left and cross a bridge
    When the intersection comes to a T at the blue and white bldg, take a right
    Take a left at the 2nd light that will also have a walking bridge before it
    You’ll pass a Universe, Mini Stop, and a Bridgestone and take a right at long vertical blue Japanese sign. There will also be a sign for Shirahama Seaside above.
    Continue straight and take a left a signal light for Shirahama Seaside.
    The road will curve down left. Parking is on the left and right for 500 yen.
