Preschool Playgroup – The Letter R / Rainbows

Today at the Preschool Playgroup the kids learned about the letter R and rainbows! I dressed the boys in their matching tie-dye shirts that their Uncle Matt made for them for Christmas and we brought our rainbow mini cupcakes for the potluck lunch. They started out the lesson singing a sit-down song and the ABCs, talking about the letter R and what sound it makes, and rainbows. Ms. Margaret showed them some crayons and drew a rainbow while talking about and showing the sign language for each color. Then she broke out the rainbow streamers and a cute rainbow song and the kids had a blast swirling and twirling!

Today's craft was rainbow coloring sheets. They could color with crayons, colored pencils, and markers or glue crumpled up tissue paper to make a pretty rainbow. The boys didn't really grasp the rainbow idea, but had fun adding lots of color to the page!! Then it was time for snacks! The boys enjoyed all sorts of healthy treats like cheese and crackers, fruit, jelly and cream cheese sandwiches, ants on a log, etc while I enjoyed two bowls of delicious chicken and rice soup (which really hit the spot on such a chilly, snowy day!)

We had such a fun time today at the preschool playgroup, playing, learning and making new friends! I'm looking forward to next week's lesson!
