Jen’s Visit

Well, Jen went back home yesterday. On one hand, it’s nice to get back to our day-to-day routine, but it’s always sad to see our visitors go. We are on the other side of the world from all of our family and know we won’t get to see them too often while we’re over here. I appreciate so much that she took her time and saved up to take this extravagant trip out here. We aren’t in a position financially to do too many expensive things and travel, but I hope she enjoyed our cheap, local version of Japan! I know she liked hanging out with the boys and Rhino adores her! We had a great time just vegging, playing games, and sharing TV shows (she introduced us to Arrested Development, Community, Lie to Me, and suggested we give Fringe a try — we should be busy for a while!) I was happy to have a crafting/knitting buddy around, too! Jen had been meaning to learn how to knit for a while, so we worked on that. We practiced by making swatches and dish scrubbies, then looked through all my books and magazines for favorite projects. We both fell in love with a sweater in last summer’s Interweave Knits that we both will have to work up to. I’ve never made a sweater and haven’t done much color work, so that will be a big project! Anyhow, we had a great time with Jen, but of course time goes so quickly. I really hope she will be able to make it out here again before we leave so we can show her Tokyo and more of Japan and she can see the boys in their next stage (a walking/talking Heron!)
