Colorado Vacation and other occurances
So! Me and Mel decided to go on vacation a while back to good ol’ CO. So I put in for leave from the 19th of June to the 27th. We flew out on Monday the 19th and pretty much just landed and went to Mel’s mothers house and relaxed. Tuesday I think Mel and her mom went to some spa for mothers day after we went to some place for lunch or something (I get the days confused a little) and I just chilled out and watched some Tivo
Then the rest of tuesday we dinner and Baulderdash that night. Wednesday we went to some cliff dwellings and saw some cool indian dances. Then we were gonna go to some cave place but it would have been a half an hour wait to get a tour so we headed out. I believe after that it was just chilling out at the house and watching TV and then more Baulderdash that night. Thursday we went to the driving range with Ron (Robin aka Mels moms boyfriend) in the morning after breakfast at Perkins. Then we went home and hung out for a bit. Mel and me went so Mel could get a pedicure since she wasn’t able to get one at the spa. Afterwards we went to dinner with Ron and Robin to the Melting Pot. It’s this awesome fondu place. I had never had fondu and I think that this dinner was one of the best I’ve ever had in my life. Anyway, afterwards just went home and kinda crashed I think. I may have some Baulderdash days out of order but whatever. Friday we drove up to Denver and after we got to the condo we went to Cherry Creek mall to wander around. It was here that my wife let me get The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion at an EB. Got a quick lunch there and then crashed at the condo. And I mean crashed, we were horribly worn out for some reason. Mel called Matt Popke and set up a 5:30 hang out time. I was a horrible turd the whole time pretty much (but in my defense I was cranky and pretty dehidrated). Anyway, we finished up hanging out with him and pretty much just went to bed. Saturday we went to the ren fest. It was really neato. We walked around and saw Puke and Snot. Then some crazy wenches. Anyway, left there, showered up and went to see Click. It was alright but Adam Sandler still has alot of childish antics and stuff. Then we went to Benihana, which was way cool. Not much else. Sunday we went up to Fort Collins to visit with some of Mels friends from college. Bowling, food, and a cheesy kung-fu movie. Monday we went and saw Body Worlds 2 and then pretty much just hung out til our plane flight home. And that was the trip in a nutshell…now on to games
So me and mel are having a blast playing our hunters. Hers is 17 and mine is 16. She has this cute little black widow skinned spider named Lolth (the drow goddess in D&D, also called The Spider Queen hehe) and I have a new wolf named Duskfang. Not really much detail to speak of, we run around shooting things and our pets chomp down on them.
Keelon hit 52 last night. I still feel like I’m a long way from 60 but slow and steady wins the race (if only I didn’t have so awesome of a time playing hunters with mel I’d be 60 teehee). I ran through the temple with the same guildies I ran through mara with cept they are now like…3 lvl or more higher then me intead of one or the same lvl
Anyway, we all finished up our class specific quests that happen in there and I got my mana trinket. We finished up alot of quests too and killed all the bosses. I got a new sexy cape as well. All in all it was an awesome run. I had massive rest from being on vacation so I got tons of exp running through there. I was about…1/4 of the way through 51 when we went in and I hit 52 from turning in the two quests inside Temple and from mob exp. A couple BoE blues dropped which was pretty sweet. All in all it was an awesome run and I’m getting to like my fellow capdomer more and more.
Now…with the “evil” that is Oblivion. I call it evil because I no longer have the WoW drive I had before, due to this game being insanely, awesomely, disgustingly awesome!!! If you have ever played Morrowind (which I loved) and liked it, then Oblivion will make you squee with glee as you play it. All the abilities are three hundred times better. They took out medium armor and spears a few other odd skills. They merged what was medium into both light and heavy. Block used to be a chance based on how high your block skill was, now it’s a button and the higher your skill the more damage you block. All weapon attacks are more basic. And as you build up your weapon skills you will get new directional power attacks. Armorers can now increase weapons and armor instead of just fixing them and get to the point where you only need one hammer and it lasts forever. Lockpicking is now more realistic with it showing the lock and you need to push tumblers into place. Alchemy now lets you make poisons to apply to your weapons to do whatever the poison says on the next hit. Sneak is actually worth it now that you can sneak up to humanoids and whatnot with only around 35-40 sneak as apposed to the fact you had to have around 80 to sneak up to anything in Morrowind. Criticals actually occur with both melee and marksman while stealthed and show up in the middle of the screen when it happens. You can now get/steal horses to ride the countryside with. You can now warp to any known location on your map by simply clicking on it. Instead of having to put away your weapons and ready your “casting hands” like in morrowind, you simply have the spell in the spell slot and hit the C key and you will cast while still weilding your weapons (it’s not crazy though and you can’t swing a sword and cast at the same time). Easier hotkeys (although there are only 8). Stolen goods will no longer be sellable to regular merchants (unless maybe you have master merchant) and must be sold to the thiefs guild. You can move dead bodies or any other item you could pick up. Mana now regens and regen rate is based off how much Wisdom you have, making it an actual feasable stat to raise, this makes it so you can actually play a caster (Morrowinds horrid lack of mana regen, easily gotten mana potions, and other such caster items made it pretty much impossible to make a caster). Phew! It’s alot, and there’s prolly more I’m missing. I’m running it on the gameplay setting, meaning I don’t care about the graphics I’m just loving the game. But it’s still gorgeous with horrendously low graphic settings! So far I’ve made 3 characters, an archer/ranger type guy, a clerical/caster type character, and an assassin (poison, bow, dagger, etc.). They took out levitation I guess (which I think is silly) but I hope they left in jump or someway to fortify acrobatics cus I was wanting to make a Dragoon type character. Anyway, the graphics are awesome, gameplay is awesome, and you can actually make good lookin argonians now. All in all, I say anyone who has a system that can play this game should get this game.
And that’s about all I got. My delema of Oblvion vs WoW should now be apparent
Welp, talk to ya later. Afterwards.
